Free is genuinely usable — you can set up a plan and see how it goes for a month without paying. The catch is that Free shows you the totals but doesn’t reconcile them.

What Plus adds — $99.99/year

  • Drift narration. The plain-English summary of where the month is heading.
  • Smart Mode. Deeper AI (Claude Sonnet) for harder financial conversations in chat. Switch on per-message or set as default.
  • 12 months of recap history. Free keeps the current month only; Plus shows the past year in Budget → Recap.
  • Unlimited connected institutions. No 3-bank cap.
  • Calendar export. Push your bill dates and income arrivals to Google / Apple Calendar.

The Founder rate — $79/year, locked for life

For the first 500 Plus subscribers, we offer $79/year. Locked at $79/yr as long as you stay subscribed — if we raise prices later, your rate stays.

Why we offer it

Holdfast is a small team building for a niche that historically gets neglected by personal-finance software. The founder rate signals we’re betting on staying small and useful. The first 500customers are the people who’ll shape the product — and we want you to stay.

Cancelling

From Settings → Plan → Manage Plus. We use Stripe’s billing portal, so you can also cancel from the receipt email (“Manage subscription” link) without signing back in.

Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you keep Plus features until the date the next charge would have hit. We don’t auto-cancel mid-month or hide it behind a chat-bot escalation; one button, done.

Refunds

We offer a 30-day refund window from the date of original purchase (not from each renewal). Email support@holdfastbudget.com within 30 days of paying, and we’ll refund in full, no questions.

After 30 days, prorated refunds are not standard — but if something unusual happened (a charge after you thought you cancelled, a payment method you didn’t authorize), email us and we’ll work it out.

Failed payments

If a renewal payment fails, Stripe retries it over a 14-day window. During that window, your account stays in read-only grace: all your committed plans stay visible, but new monthly commits pause until billing is resolved.

We’ll email you with a link to update your payment method. If the window ends without resolution, the subscription cancels — at that point you’d be back on Free, with everything still readable.

Switching plans

Monthly to annual: we prorate the difference and apply it to the new plan. Annual to founder: only available during the founder window (first 500subscribers); after that the rate isn’t selectable.
